MI HB5850

Amends the Foster Care and Adoption Services Act (1994 PA 203) by adding section 8c to establish a specific policy for foster children.

Requires the Department to draft and maintain the policy and implement it by no later than July 1, 2015.

Mandates the policy address foster children's access to regular contact with caseworkers, attorneys, and advocates, as age-appropriate and as mandated by the court.

Requires the policy to ensure foster children receive notice of hearings, can attend hearings and speak with judges, participate in their case plan development, access information about available services, review their own case records, and have privacy protections.

Effective only if House Bill 5849 and House Bill 5851 are also enacted into law.
