HB 6033 Summary

• Amends the 1941 PA 107 Township Water Supply and Sewage Disposal Act to modernize public notice requirements by transitioning from newspaper publication to the local government public notice act effective January 1, 2015.

• Before January 1, 2015, maintains existing requirement for township boards to publish water supply and sewage disposal plans in newspapers for 3 successive weeks.

• Beginning January 1, 2015, requires township boards to provide tier A or tier B public notice with links to plans and ordinances through the local government public notice act instead of newspaper publication.

• Updates notice requirements for township board meetings regarding water and sewage services to use the local government public notice act provisions beginning January 1, 2015, while maintaining compliance with the open meetings act (1976 PA 267).

• Bill is contingent on enactment of Senate Bill No. ____ or House Bill No. 5560 in the 97th Legislature.
