Amends the 1951 Public Act 33 regarding police and fire protection financing for townships to modify public notice requirements for special assessment hearings.

Changes public notice requirement effective January 1, 2015 from newspaper publication or posting in public places (with 5 days' notice) to "tier A public notice" under the local government public notice act, provided at least 14 days before the hearing.

Corrects statutory references in the act from MCL 211.1 to 211.157 to MCL 211.1 to 211.155 regarding properties exempt from general property tax collection.

Maintains existing authority for township boards to create special assessment districts, levy assessments on taxable value of property, issue bonds, and hear objections to proposed police and fire protection costs and assessments.

Bill is contingent on enactment of House Bill No. 5560 of the 97th Legislature and does not take effect independently.
