Supports and endorses Michigan's application to be designated as one of six federally-identified unmanned aircraft system (UAS) test sites mandated by the FAA Modernization and Reform Act of 2012.

The Federal Aviation Administration is identifying six UAS test ranges nationally to conduct research on safely integrating unmanned aircraft into national airspace and establishing certification and navigation requirements.

The Michigan Advanced Aerial Systems Consortium, led by the Michigan Economic Development Corporation, submitted the application with partners including Alpena County, Michigan Department of Transportation, Michigan National Guard, University of Michigan, Michigan Technological University, Kettering University, Western Michigan University, and Alpena Community College.

Directs transmission of the resolution to Michigan's congressional delegation and the Federal Aviation Administration to support the designation request.
