Expresses support for equal rights protection of individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and efforts to improve awareness and understanding of autism

Acknowledges that ASD is the fastest growing serious developmental disability in the United States and often leads to misunderstanding and marginalization of affected individuals

Recognizes Michigan's 2012 legislation requiring insurance coverage of autism therapy treatment in commercial and Medicaid programs and establishment of the Michigan Autism Council by Executive Order

Calls for continued efforts to support equal rights protection and provide greater assistance to people with ASD and their families

Directs copies of the resolution to be transmitted to the Michigan Department of Community Health and the Michigan Autism Council
