Declares June 7-15, 2014, as Aquatic Invasive Species Awareness Week in Michigan.

Identifies over 180 nonindigenous aquatic species established in the Great Lakes basin that displace native species and cost millions of dollars annually in control efforts.

Notes Michigan has over 900,000 registered boaters and waterways including 11,000 inland lakes and 36,000 miles of rivers and streams impacted by aquatic invasive species.

Calls on all citizens to increase understanding of aquatic invasive species and their environmental and economic impacts and take preventative measures to stop their spread.

Directs copies of the resolution be sent to the Michigan Department of Environmental Quality, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Michigan Department of Natural Resources, Michigan Department of Transportation, Great Lakes Fishery Commission, Council of Great Lakes Governors, Michigan Congressional Delegation, and Great Lakes Commission.
