Honors James E. Defebaugh, a former Michigan House member who served the Sixty-fifth District (Birmingham and parts of Oakland County) from 1971 to 1982 for 6 terms.

Defebaugh served as House Republican Whip and Assistant Floor Leader, and was a member of committees on Corporations and Finance, Elections, Retirement, House Policy, Mental Health (vice-chair), and Conservation, Environment, and Recreation.

Prior to his legislative career, Defebaugh was an advertising consultant with Campbell Ewald agency in Detroit, chaired the Republican Party of Oakland County from 1968-70, and served on the Oakland Community Health Services Board.

Served on the Michigan Bicentennial Commission, the Governor's Advisory Commission on the Regulation of Financial Institutions, and the Interstate Cooperation Commission.
