House Resolution 478 honors Representative Wayne Schmidt upon the conclusion of his tenure in the Michigan House of Representatives for his dedicated service to his community and state.

Schmidt chaired the Commerce, Michigan Capitol, and Transportation and Infrastructure committees, and served on committees including Energy and Technology, Health Policy, Great Lakes and the Environment, and Natural Resources, Tourism, and Outdoor Recreation.

Led the House through unemployment insurance and worker's compensation reforms during his legislative tenure.

Prior to the Legislature, Schmidt served five terms on the Grand Traverse County Board of Commissioners (including as vice-chair and chair) and sat on multiple boards including the Grand Traverse County Economic Development Corporation, Bay Area Transit Authority, Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Northwest Michigan, and the National Cherry Festival.

The House commends Schmidt for his years of service and will transmit copies of the resolution to him as a token of esteem and gratitude.
