School districts and public school academies must adopt and implement a policy prohibiting bullying at school within 30 days of submission to the department.

Bullying policies must include cyberbullying as a form of bullying and must address retaliation, notification procedures for parents, reporting procedures, investigation processes, and confidentiality protections.

School districts and public school academies must document and annually report all verified bullying incidents and consequences to their board, with the department establishing a form for public reporting that excludes personally identifiable information.

School employees, volunteers, pupils, and parents who report bullying in good faith are immune from legal action, except for school officials responsible for remedying the bullying.

The law encourages schools to establish bullying prevention task forces, provide annual training for staff on identifying and responding to bullying, and create educational programs for pupils and parents on preventing cyberbullying.
