Intentionally discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle, snowmobile, or off-road vehicle is a felony with penalties ranging from up to 10 years imprisonment or $10,000 fine if it endangers another person's safety.

Discharging a firearm from a vehicle that causes physical injury escalates to up to 15 years imprisonment or $15,000 fine; serious body function impairment increases to up to 20 years or $25,000 fine; causing death results in life imprisonment or any term of years.

Intentionally discharging a firearm at a dwelling or potentially occupied structure is a felony punishable by up to 10 years imprisonment or $10,000 fine, with enhanced penalties if injury or death results.

Peace officers performing official duties and individuals acting in self-defense or defense of another are exempt from these prohibitions.

Sentences imposed under this act may run consecutively to sentences for other violations arising from the same incident.
