SB-0586 Summary

• Amends probate court jurisdiction under Michigan Probate Code to include juveniles under 18 years of age engaged in commercial sexual activity or delinquent acts resulting from force, fraud, coercion, or manipulation by a parent or adult.

• Adds new subsection (b)(3)(C) establishing court jurisdiction over dependent juveniles who engage in conduct that would constitute commercial sexual activity or exploitation-related delinquency when perpetrated by an adult.

• Changes reference from "family independence agency" to "department of human services" regarding juvenile facilities for escape-related offenses.

• Adds new subsections (b)(4), (b)(5), and (b)(6) to probate court jurisdiction for cases involving limited guardianship placement plan violations and guardian support requirements with 2-year non-compliance thresholds.

• Bill becomes effective only if Senate Bill No. 585 of the 97th Legislature is also enacted into law.
