Requires food service establishments (except temporary facilities and vending machines), extended retail food establishments, and food service establishments within retail groceries to employ at least one certified food safety manager accredited by the American National Standards Institute.

Mandates that certified food safety managers complete food safety training with an allergen awareness component every 5 years, beginning 2 years after the 2014 amendment, with exemptions for chains with more than 20 locations in Michigan that complete any nationally recognized program.

Requires all food service establishments to prominently display a department-approved food allergy awareness poster in staff areas until December 31, 2020.

Clarifies definitions including "agricultural use operation," "bed and breakfast," "cottage food operation," and "cottage food product" to exempt certain small-scale food producers from licensing requirements.

Specifies that certified food safety managers must be recognized with full faith and credit by the state and all local units of government, and authorizes the department to promulgate rules for implementation and enforcement.
