• Establishes the "Official Residence Act" to govern management, operations, maintenance, restoration, and improvement of the governor's residence in Lansing.

• Creates the Official Residence Commission consisting of the Department of Technology, Management, and Budget director (or designee) and two governor-appointed members, with at least one having expertise in operations, maintenance, or restoration of historic structures.

• Grants the commission exclusive control of the official residence and authority to operate, maintain, restore, improve the property, contract for goods and services, and make funding recommendations.

• Creates the Official Residence Fund within the state treasury to receive private gifts, bequests, and donations, with investment earnings credited to the fund and surplus amounts exceeding $200,000 annually lapsing to the general fund.

• Requires commission meetings to comply with the Open Meetings Act and commission records to be subject to the Freedom of Information Act.
