Department of State Police must send written notice by first-class mail to individuals when their information is entered into the law enforcement information network under firearms licensing restrictions, including the entry date and notification that they cannot obtain pistol or concealed weapon licenses.

Individuals may request the State Police to amend inaccurate information or expunge their records from the law enforcement information network if they are no longer subject to involuntary mental health commitments, legal incapacitation orders, personal protection orders, or firearm purchase prohibition orders.

State Police must investigate and respond to amendment or expunction requests within 30 days, with denial notices specifying the basis and informing applicants of appeal rights under the Administrative Procedures Act.

Individuals may request a hearing before a State Police hearing officer if the department refuses their request or fails to respond within 30 days to determine if information should be amended or expunged as inaccurate or false.

Act takes effect December 21, 2014, and is conditioned on enactment of Senate Bills 49 and 881, and House Bills 4155, 5325, and 5328.
