Senate Bill 895 Summary

• Amends section 721 to allow pickup trucks equipped with fifth wheel assemblies and towing recreational living semitrailers to tow an additional trailer or semitrailer under specified conditions, notwithstanding the general one-vehicle/trailer limit.

• Establishes maximum 75-foot total length requirement for pickup truck combinations towing recreational semitrailers and additional trailers, with gross weight of additional trailer not exceeding the empty weight of the pickup truck or semitrailer.

• Requires proper attachment of safety chains with locking mechanisms at extreme outer edges and substantial hitch material attached securely to the towing vehicle frame for the additional trailer.

• Amends section 732 to exclude violations for operating a motor vehicle at speeds 5 miles per hour or less over the speed limit from being entered on the master driving record.

• Maintains existing reporting requirements to the Secretary of State for other traffic violations, civil infractions, and felonies involving motor vehicles, with specified exceptions for minor violations and certain administrative issues.
