Department shall accept federal fish stock for programs and apply for all federal fish stock programs that do not commit the state to future expenditures.

Department must stock spring walleye fingerlings within fish stocking priority regions using average stocking levels from 1985-2001 with at least 191,859 fingerlings total.

Minimum stocking rate of 50 spring walleye fingerlings per surface acre until a sustainable legal-sized adult walleye population is established with 5 strong year classes (minimum 25 individual walleye per age group).

For lakes with walleye populations significantly lower than regional average, minimum stocking rate increases to 75 fingerlings per acre; for highly compromised populations, rate increases to 100 fingerlings per acre.

Fish stocking priority region defined as 2 or more contiguous counties with combined population of 34,000-41,000 residents and at least 130 inland lakes; fingerling defined as fish between 1.50 and 2 inches in length.
