Memorial resolution honoring Connie Berube Binsfeld, who served nearly 25 years in Michigan government as the first and only woman to hold leadership positions in the House, Senate, and executive branch.

Binsfeld served in the House of Representatives from 1975 to 1982 and in the Senate from 1983 to 1990, including eight years as assistant minority leader in the House and assistant majority leader in the Senate.

Sponsored legislation protecting Michigan's sand dunes, funding environmental cleanups, and protecting women from domestic violence; served as chair of multiple appropriations subcommittees.

Elected Lieutenant Governor in 1990 and served as president of the Senate from 1991 to 1998; led the Commission on Adoption and the Binsfeld Children's Commission, which reformed Michigan's child welfare system.

Resolution directs that copies be transmitted to the Binsfeld family as evidence of the Legislature's esteem for her memory.
