Designates March 5, 2014, as Spread the Word to End the Word Day in Michigan to raise awareness about the harmful effects of using the R-word in reference to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Acknowledges that the R-word is commonly used as a taunt and dehumanizing slur that causes pain to individuals with intellectual disabilities, whether used intentionally or unintentionally.

Recognizes the Spread the Word to End the Word campaign led by Special Olympics Michigan and supporters to encourage people to pledge to stop using the R-word, with a goal of reaching 100,000 pledges at www.r-word.org.

Commits the legislative body to educating communities about the positive contributions of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities and the importance of using respectful and inclusive language.
