Adds animal abuse and control as prohibited conduct in personal protection orders, allowing courts to enjoin injuring, killing, torturing, neglecting, or threatening to harm an animal owned by the petitioner.

Permits courts to enjoin removal, retention, or obtaining of an animal owned by the petitioner when done with intent to cause mental distress or exert control.

Clarifies that a restraining order prohibiting animal harm does not prevent lawful killing or use of animals as described in Michigan Penal Code section 50(11).

Defines "ownership interest" in an animal to include having property rights, keeping or harboring, caring for, or permitting the animal to remain on premises occupied by the petitioner.
