HB-4638 Summary

• Amends the Limousine Transportation Act (1990 PA 271) to exempt certain limo carriers from compliance with the act.

• Exempts public entities including counties, cities, townships, villages, metropolitan transportation authorities, and public transportation authorities incorporated under specific Michigan statutes.

• Exempts limo carriers operating solely for funerals and those operating wholly within local government boundaries with their own safety inspection and insurance requirements.

• Exempts taxi or taxicab services using metered vehicles with maximum seating capacity of 3 to 9 passengers or less, including the driver.

• Exempts transportation network companies as defined in the Transportation Network Company Act; takes effect 90 days after enactment only if House Bill 4637 is also enacted into law.
