HB 4893 Summary

• Establishes the Lions of Michigan Foundation fund within the Department of Treasury to provide donations to Lions Clubs and charities serving individuals with sight and hearing deficiencies and addressing unmet community needs in Michigan.

• State Treasurer credits to the fund all amounts appropriated under section 435 of the 1967 Income Tax Act, plus interest, earnings, and other contributions received by the fund.

• Fund money distributed to each county based on contributions, gifts, or donations received from that county, available upon annual appropriation.

• Fund money may be used as matching funds for federal grants if used for purposes described in the act.

• Unappropriated fund balances at year-end remain in the fund and do not lapse to the general fund; bill takes effect only if HB 4892 is enacted into law.
