MI HB5333

Amends the definition of "period of service" to include military service between June 27, 1950 and the termination of the national emergency proclaimed on December 16, 1950, in addition to the existing September 16, 1940 to June 30, 1946 period.

Requires veterans to have provided more than 60 days of honorable and faithful service during their period of service to qualify for benefits.

Establishes that veterans must have been Michigan residents at the time of entering service and for at least 6 months prior to that date.

Defines "honorable and faithful service" as service evidenced by an honorable discharge, a certificate of service for officers, or a certificate from appropriate service authority confirming honorable and faithful service.

Effective 90 days after enactment and contingent upon the enactment of House Bill No. 5332 of the 98th Legislature.
