Veterans may sell their own goods in Michigan if proceeds are used for their direct personal benefit or gain.

A veteran license is valid for 1 year and must be obtained from the county clerk where the veteran resides at no cost.

Veteran status requires meeting all of the following: being a veteran under 1965 PA 190, serving at least 180 days of active service or having a service-connected disability, being honorably discharged, and being a state resident.

Licensees must display a conspicuous sign at the point of sale and print a statement on goods in at least 12-point boldfaced type stating "The profit from the sale of this product is for my personal benefit."

Violators of signage requirements or those falsely claiming proceeds benefit a veterans' organization face civil infraction penalties of up to $1,000.
