• Changes terminology from "a person" to "an individual" and "examinations" to "an examination" in the mechanical contractor licensing statute.

• Requires applicants to have a minimum of 3 years of work experience (or 6,000 hours) in their chosen work classification, documented through notarized statements from mechanical contractor employers.

• Allows individuals with existing active mechanical contractor licenses in certain classifications to apply for additional licenses in related classifications without repeating the full experience requirement if they've held their current license continuously for at least 3 years.

• Permits military service experience to count toward the 3-year work experience requirement if applicant provides honorable discharge documentation (DD214, DD215, or equivalent).

• Provides up to 1 year or 2,000 hours of credit toward the 3-year experience requirement for graduates of approved trade school, community college, or university mechanical contractor programs in HVAC and refrigeration.

• Takes effect 90 days after enactment.
