County road commission agents are authorized to enforce specific vehicle code sections (215, 255, 631(1), 717, 719, 719a, 720, 722, 724, 725, and 726) without requiring Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCLES) certification, except when enforcing sections 215 and 255 which apply only to commercial vehicles.

County road commission agents must wear a clearly visible shoulder patch identifying their branch of government when enforcing the specified vehicle code sections.

County road commission agents are prohibited from carrying firearms while enforcing vehicle code sections unless they are licensed or certified as police officers under the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards Act (1965 PA 203).

The definition of "police officer" in the vehicle code is expanded to include duly authorized agents of a county road commission meeting section 726c requirements.

The act takes effect 90 days after enactment (effective date January 2, 2017) and is contingent on the passage of Senate Bill No. 92 of the 98th Legislature.
