All child care centers, group child care homes, and family child care homes providing care for children under 1 year of age must implement and maintain a written safe sleep policy in accordance with applicable licensing rules.

Licensees, registrants, and employees of covered child care facilities must review the safe sleep policy and sign an acknowledgement that they understand safe sleep practices as described in the policy.

Child care facilities must make their safe sleep policies available upon request to parents or legal guardians and must post the policy on their website if they maintain one.

The state department must develop and provide a sample safe sleep policy based on generally accepted safe sleep practices to child care facilities.

The department may add additional requirements for safe sleep policies through rule promulgation, with the bill taking effect 90 days after enactment.
