• Amends MCL 769.1f to add arson and related offenses (MCL 750.72-750.79 and MCL 750.411a) to crimes for which courts may order reimbursement of government expenses.

• Requires courts to order reimbursement (rather than permitting it) for arson convictions, covering emergency response and prosecution expenses including fire department personnel costs.

• Expands reimbursable expenses to include fire department and emergency medical service personnel salaries, wages, overtime, and medical supplies used in responding to incidents.

• Allows multiple government units to seek reimbursement from a single convicted person when personnel from different jurisdictions incurred expenses; prevents double reimbursement for the same expense.

• Prohibits incarceration for failure to pay reimbursement unless the court determines the person has resources to pay and has not made good faith payment efforts; allows payment over time through installments.
