Amends MCL 500.3174 to establish a 1-year deadline for filing claims through the Michigan automobile insurance placement facility's assigned claims plan, measured from the date of the accident.

Removes the previous requirement that action deadlines be based on when an action could have been filed for personal protection insurance benefits under identifiable coverage.

Requires the Michigan automobile insurance placement facility to promptly assign eligible claims and notify claimants of the assigned insurer's identity and address.

Directs that actions by claimants must be commenced in accordance with section 3145 instead of the previous 30-day deadline from notice of assignment or other applicable deadline.

Takes effect 90 days after enactment.
