Requires employers with one or more full-time employees to provide unpaid leave to parents and legal guardians for attending their children's academic activities.

Limits unpaid leave to 8 hours per child per academic year, taken in increments of no longer than 3 hours, and allows employers to require written school verification of the activity.

Requires employees to provide 7 days advance notice to employers, or as soon as possible in case of emergency, before taking leave under this act.

Allows employers to deny leave only if granting it would disrupt business operations or endanger public safety or welfare.

Prohibits employers from discharging, threatening, or discriminating against employees in compensation, terms, conditions, or employment privileges for requesting or using leave under this act.
