MI HB5986

Amends Michigan's criminal sentencing guidelines (MCL 777.16g) to add crimes of third degree and fourth degree child abuse to the list of felonies covered under Chapter XVII sentencing guidelines.

Establishes sentencing classes and statutory maximums for fourth degree child abuse second or subsequent offense (Class G, 2-year maximum) and modifies classification for third degree child abuse offenses.

Requires that for violations of MCL 750.145d (using internet or computer to commit crimes), the offense category, offense variable level, and prior record variable level be determined based on the underlying offense.

Takes effect 90 days after enactment, contingent on enactment of HB 5985 or a companion Senate bill.
