Declares March 8, 2016, as International Women's Day in Michigan to celebrate the economic, political, and social achievements of women.

Recognizes the 105th anniversary of International Women's Day, originally called International Working Women's Day, celebrated annually on March 8.

Acknowledges women's critical roles in political, social, and economic life, as well as their contributions to family care, food security, and economic growth.

Notes that women remain underrepresented in government, legislatures, and conflict resolution efforts, accounting for only 22 percent of national parliamentarians.

Encourages Michigan residents to observe the day with appropriate programs and activities while supporting efforts to end discrimination and violence against women and girls.
