Declares April 2016 as Michigan Student Athlete Cardiac Awareness Month to raise awareness about sudden cardiac arrest in student athletes.

Recognizes that Michigan has lost at least 64 students to sudden cardiac arrest since December 1999, naming four specific victims: Kimberly Anne Gillary, Kayla Stanford, Thomas Noah Smith, and Wes Leonard.

Acknowledges foundations established by families of deceased students that have donated over 900 automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to Michigan high schools and intermediate schools, resulting in at least 75% of high schools having at least one AED and 12 lives saved.

Urges the State Board of Education to include AED training in student health education courses and conduct regular AED drills in schools.

Urges the State Board of Education to advise schools to educate students and families on identifying situations where students may be at cardiac risk.
