School boards must annually report to the superintendent of public instruction the number of pupils expelled or suspended, as well as those who were truant, chronically absent, or disciplinary absent during the preceding school year.

For each expulsion or suspension, reports must include a brief written description of the incident, participants involved, and disciplinary outcomes.

For truancy and absenteeism incidents, reports must contain brief written statements of data establishing the pupil's status as truant, chronically absent, or disciplinary absent.

School boards must annually report incidents of crime occurring at school, including physical violence, gang-related activity, illegal drug possession, trespassing, and property crimes, with estimated costs for property damage.

School buildings must collect and maintain this information weekly and provide it within 7 days upon request; school boards must make disaggregated reports available annually to parents and guardians.

This act takes effect only if Senate Bill No. 405 of the 98th Legislature is enacted into law.
