Cold War veterans and their spouses may apply to the Secretary of State for a special registration plate displaying a vignette and the word "veteran" beneath the registration numbers

Applications require proof of Cold War service, a form prescribed by the Secretary of State, and a $5.00 service fee

Each applicant receives one special registration plate for use on a passenger vehicle, with disabled applicants also eligible for a disability tab

Special plates expire on the vehicle owner's birthday and require a $5.00 renewal fee, with no need to resubmit proof of service upon renewal

Misuse of the special registration plate on an unauthorized vehicle or by an ineligible person is a misdemeanor; the act takes effect 90 days after enactment
