Amends the Police Officer's and Fire Fighter's Survivor Tuition Grant Act to update definitions for eligible students, including children under age 21 at time of officer/firefighter death and surviving spouses.

Defines "killed" as death being the direct and proximate result of a traumatic injury incurred in the line of duty, excluding injuries from stress, strain, or occupational disease.

Expands "line of duty" to include social, ceremonial, or athletic functions that the officer or firefighter is assigned to or compensated for by their public agency.

Clarifies that Michigan police officers include those trained and licensed under the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards Act, 1965 PA 203.

Effective January 2, 2017, contingent upon enactment of Senate Bill No. 92 of the 98th Legislature.
