Vehicle manufacturers are not liable for damages from conversion to automated motor vehicles unless the defect existed at manufacturing.

Subcomponent system producers cannot be held liable for damages resulting from equipment modifications to convert vehicles to automated mode unless the defect was present when originally installed.

Motor vehicle mechanics and repair facilities performing repairs on automated motor vehicles according to manufacturer specifications are not liable in product liability actions.

Existing product liability provisions (sections 2945-2949a) do not apply to the extent they conflict with this section's protections.

The act becomes effective 90 days after enactment, with an effective date of March 9, 2017.
