Expands MCL 750.81d to include emergency room personnel (physicians, nurses, intake clerks, and other hospital emergency department staff) as protected persons under assault laws.

Establishes tiered felony penalties for assaulting protected persons: up to 2 years imprisonment/$2,000 fine for basic assault; up to 4 years/$5,000 fine if bodily injury requiring medical attention occurs; up to 15 years/$10,000 fine if serious impairment of body function results; up to 20 years/$20,000 fine if death results.

Defines "obstruct" to include use or threatened use of physical interference or force, or knowing failure to comply with a lawful command.

Permits consecutive sentencing for violations of this section with sentences imposed for other violations arising from the same transaction.

Takes effect 90 days after enactment into law.
