SB-1084 Summary

• Removes requirement that emergency lights on authorized emergency vehicles be mounted on the roof section, allowing lights to be mounted elsewhere if clearly visible in a 360-degree arc from 500 feet when in use.

• Permits authorized emergency vehicles to use flashing, rotating, or oscillating red lights when responding to emergency calls without the previous roof-mounting restriction or suction cup/magnet installation requirements.

• Maintains all other restrictions on emergency light use, including prohibition on operating lights outside of emergency responses and misdemeanor penalties for unauthorized use.

• Takes effect 90 days after enactment.
