Recognizes the Michigan Retailers Association's year-round "Buy Nearby" campaign intended to benefit local communities and serve as an economic driver for the state.

Notes that retailing supports 850,000 jobs in Michigan and estimates that increased local shopping could generate over 74,000 additional jobs and $9 billion in economic activity annually, including $2.5 billion in wages.

Encourages communities and retailers to host special events and promotions during the weekend and urges Michigan consumers to support local businesses through nearby purchases throughout the year.
