MI HB4114

Replaces the 1-credit visual arts/performing arts requirement with a 3-credit "21st century skills" requirement that can be satisfied through any combination of foreign language, visual/performing arts, computer science/coding, or career and technical education programs.

Removes the previous 2-credit foreign language requirement for high school graduation and allows foreign language credits to count toward the new 21st century skills requirement instead.

Permits pupils to complete foreign language credits at any time during grades K-12 (not just high school) and allows online coursework to partially or fully satisfy foreign language requirements.

Removes a temporary provision that allowed students graduating 2016-2021 to substitute career and technical education or arts instruction for foreign language requirements.

Takes effect 90 days after enactment.
