Prohibits leaving a motor vehicle unattended on a highway without engaging the parking brake or placing the vehicle in park, stopping the motor, and removing the ignition key.

Requires front wheels to be turned toward the curb or side of the highway if the vehicle is parked on a grade.

Creates an exception allowing vehicles equipped with remote start features to remain running and unattended when the remote start feature is actively engaged.

Classifies violations of the unattended vehicle requirement as civil infractions.

Rescinds Michigan Administrative Code Rule 28.1458 and takes effect September 26, 2017.
