School districts are required to provide kindergarten with a full school day matching other elementary grades, removing the previous option to not offer kindergarten.

Children who are at least 5 years old on September 1 of the school year may enroll in kindergarten in public schools operated by their school district.

Children who will turn 5 years old by December 1 of a school year may enroll in kindergarten if parents provide written notice to the school, though schools may recommend against early enrollment.

Mandatory school attendance age is lowered from 6 years old to 5 years old, with children required to attend until their sixteenth or eighteenth birthday depending on when they turned 11.

Schools must notify the Department of Education by December 31 of each school year if they enroll any children under the early enrollment provision.
