House Bill 4334 Summary

• Prohibits local units of government from enacting or enforcing laws, ordinances, policies, or rules that limit or prohibit peace officers and local officials or employees from communicating or cooperating with federal officials regarding immigration status of individuals in Michigan.

• Defines "local unit of government" to include counties, cities, villages, townships, and charter townships, with their respective governing bodies (county boards of commissioners, city/village councils, and township boards).

• Authorizes the state treasurer to withhold all annual revenue sharing payments from any local unit of government that fails to comply with the immigration communication requirements for each year of non-compliance.

• Takes effect 90 days after enactment into law.
