Requires Michigan Department of Education to include instruction on prescription opioid drug abuse in state model academic standards for health education beginning in the 2019-2020 school year.

Mandates the department develop and make available a grade- and age-appropriate model program of instruction on prescription opioid drug abuse to school districts and public school academies by July 1, 2019.

Model program must include instruction on the prescription drug epidemic and the connection between prescription opioid drug abuse and addiction to other drugs, based on recommendations from the prescription drug and opioid abuse commission.

Effective date is 90 days after enactment (March 27, 2018), contingent on House Bill No. 4406 also being enacted into law.
