Amends Michigan's occupational licensing law to modify requirements for residential builders and maintenance and alteration contractors under the 1980 Public Act 299.

Requires applicants to submit a copy of their operator's license or state personal identification card for identity verification purposes only.

Requires applicants to pass an examination demonstrating knowledge of contractor obligations, duties to the public and principal, and relevant statutes.

Specifies that residential maintenance and alteration contractor licenses cover 12 trades including carpentry, masonry, roofing, siding, waterproofing, and house wrecking.

Requires licensees to maintain a Michigan place of business, renew licenses every 3 years, maintain current copies of the Michigan residential code, and keep documentation of continuing competency activities for at least 5 years.
