MI HB4715

Creates the Michigan Automobile Insurance Fraud Authority within the Michigan Automobile Insurance Placement Facility to reduce automobile insurance fraud and theft in the state.

Establishes a 16-member board of directors consisting of 8 insurer representatives, the insurance director, attorney general, secretary of state, state police director, 2 other law enforcement representatives, 1 prosecuting attorney representative, and 1 public representative.

Board dissolves on January 1, 2023, and is authorized to provide financial support to law enforcement, prosecutorial, and regulatory agencies for fraud prevention programs.

Requires insurers writing automobile insurance in Michigan to report automobile insurance fraud data to the authority using formats and procedures adopted by the board.

Act takes effect 90 days after enactment and is contingent upon House Bill 4622 being enacted into law.
