Changes school district and public school academy instruction on suicide and depression warning signs from "encouraged" to mandatory ("shall provide").

Requires age-appropriate and medically accurate instruction for pupils and professional development for school personnel covering warning signs, risk factors for suicide and depression, and protective factors.

Directs the Department of Education to develop or select model suicide prevention programs and materials, such as the Michigan Model for Comprehensive School Health Education, and make them available to schools.

Mandates school boards notify parents of all pupils about the suicide prevention instruction using the school's normal communication methods.

Requires the legislature to provide funding to schools for any increased costs related to compliance with this mandate; establishes the "Chase Edwards Law" effective 90 days after enactment.
