MI HB4832

Amends the part-time independent student grant program under 1986 PA 102 to expand the definition of eligible high school completion programs from "general educational development (GED)" to include "a high school equivalency test preparation program."

Broadens eligible postsecondary institutions from "Michigan degree granting educational institutions approved by the department of labor and economic growth" to "degree- or certificate-granting postsecondary educational institution in this state."

Modifies citizenship eligibility requirement to include not only U.S. citizens and permanent residents, but also "any other student described as eligible to receive title IV, HEA program assistance under 34 CFR 668.33."

Bill takes effect only upon enactment of all eight related bills: HB 4829, HB 4831, HB 4833, HB 4834, and four additional bills with unspecified numbers (request nos. 03045'17, 03606'17, 03607'17, 03608'17, 03609'17).
