School boards and public school academies are prohibited from adopting policies that restrict students' possession of sunscreen or application of sunscreen at school.

School officials and employees cannot prohibit or restrict sunscreen possession or application except as necessary to maintain order and control for school safety and learning.

"At school" is defined to include classrooms, school property, school buses, and school-sponsored activities whether on or off school property.

Sunscreen is defined as FDA-approved lotion, spray, gel, or topical product designed to absorb or reflect ultraviolet radiation and protect against sunburn; products used for medical treatment are excluded.

Public schools, school board members, administrators, employees, and volunteers are granted immunity from civil liability for damages allegedly arising from actions taken under this section.
