Department of Education, in consultation with the Department of Talent and Economic Development, shall develop or adopt a model career development instruction program by January 1, 2019.

Model program must define learning targets and themes for each grade level, include instruction for grades K-12, and embed career development education within core instruction.

Model program must include strategies for engaging parents and community business and industry interests.

Beginning in the 2019-2020 school year, school district boards and public school academy boards must ensure their curricula incorporate grade-appropriate career development instruction in grades K-12.

Act takes effect September 25, 2018, and is known as the "Superintendent Brian Whiston Career Pathways Law."
